Ok so I've asked for Julie Goodwins cookbook for mothers day
While watching Julie & Julia last night I thought "hey I could do that!", with Julie's cookbook! I've already got a blog. I have some readers, well my Aunty Larelle, Andrea and Wendy :D
It'd be a good way to ensure that I actually cook the recipees.
I love cooking.
I love cookbooks.
I own I don't know how many cookbooks. I once had to cull half of them! I do have a knack for remembering recipees but I'm terrible at actually cooking a decent amount of recipees out of them. I'm lucky to have cooked more than 1 or 2 out of each book.
So I've decided to do this. Thanks to some hubbers who have convinced me.
I'm not sure if I can get through the book by next mothers day.
I have to warn new readers I'm a shocker at spelling and punctuation so I'm sorry about that and I don't pre read the post.
I want be as good as Julie Powel, she is a professional writter, while I only wish I had the skill. And while she had the entire New York City at her desposal with 24 hour shopping, with supermarkets, green grocers, butchers, delicantesants, bakers, chocolate and cheese stores and boutiqu food stores and markets.
I have, 3 wollworths, 2 coles, our butchers and fruit and veg store and a few other heatlh stores.
Wish me luck

Macaroni and Tofu Bake....Actually YUM!!
adrian and i collect cook books, at one stage we had more then 50!. we culled them down and now have less, we probably have 20 now. we dont use them enough and i complain about it. adrian also buys Good Taste Magazine every month from Woolworth's. i have now made a rule that we need to cook the recipes out of the magazine if he wants to buy it. so last night we decided to make Cauliflower and Bacon Macaroni Cheese. i changed it up a bit, by adding broccoli and using tofu "cream" cheese because adrian couldnt find normal cream cheese at woolies. it was very yum. so here is the recipe.
Ingredients
290g of pasta (we used macaroni)
1/4 cauliflower cut into small pieces
broccoli cut into small pieces
250g diced bacon.
1 brown onion
1tsp of crushed/minced garlic
250g cream cheese (we used tofu)
2 1/2 cups of milk
1 tbs of dijon mustard (i used american mustard)
150g of grated cheese
2tbs fresh parsley
1. in a large sauce pan of boiling salted water boil the pasta for 8-9 minutes or until al dente. steam the vegetables. saute the bacon and onions with the garlic.
2. in a blender combine the cream cheese, milk and mustard. add salt and pepper to taste.
3. in a large bowl combine all ingredients except for 1/3 of the cheese
4. pour into a large oven dish and bake in a pre heated oven for 20 minutes on 220 degrees. then grill for 5 minutes of until cheese is browned.
