60 Mins - Forbidden love

i cant believe that i didnt post on this during the week it was on my mind all week.
a few weeks ago on CI (foxtel channel) i watched a doco on genetic sexual attraction (GSA) where blood relatives who have not grown up together, meet later in life and fall in love. it was a UK based doco so they discussed 3 cases from the UK and Spain.
one a man who fell in love with his half sister, which resulted in them having an affair, and lead to prosecution.
2nd a women who fell in love with her son she had given up for adoption as a baby, her desire for closeness freaked him out and they dont really have contact now
and 3 a spanish couple full brother and sister who were abandon by their parents and met when they were in their 20s fell in love and now love as husband and wife and have 2 children, spain has actually changed the law so they are allowed to live together as man and wife in all sense of the word.

then on sunday last week 60 minutes shocks australia with John and Jenny Deaves, a father and daughter who had little contact untill jenny was 30 and fell in love. they now live as husband and wife with jenny's 2 children from her previous marriage and their own 11 month old baby. read the story here
this story exploded around australia all week people were talking about and everyone had an opinion, more bits of the story came through the media, and people were asking why? how?
the couple have responded to the media backlash over t he story here is what they have to say
for me it totally grosses me out that a father and daughter are having  this relationship. i can understand how a brother and sister one can form. but a parent/child one is different the parent was there at conception and would of had ideas of this child growing up. its very strange, i could not get my head around sleeping with your daughter/son.
i also think that they should not have had a child, no matter what. and that if they want to live like this, fine who am i to judge but why go on 60 minutes and open yourself up to the backlash they have received they must of known that it was going to happen, and that their children will have to go to school and live with THEIR decisions now amongst their school friends!

weirdly enough though this whole concept (GSA) i was exposed to when i was 13, the first novel i ever read Dawn by VC Andrews, tells the story of  a girl who is reunited with her birth family only to discover her boyfriend that she is dating is her brother. the brother cant except this and obsesses about her for the rest of his life, but she ends up marring a man she grew up thinking was her brother.
i enjoyed the story (not the incest aspects!) and as i do chose to read more books from VC Andrews/ Virginia Andrews. and the first book after dawn i choose is Flowers in the Attic. her most popular book she wrote. it tells the story of a wife who suddenly losses her husband, she is left broke with her 4 children, so she goes home to her parents to reunite with them, her father will leave her millions if she has no children to the man she chose to marry against his wishes. so she hides the children for 4 yrs in the attic of the mansion waiting for her father to die. whist in the attic the two elder children fall in love and later we learn the reason why the rich father disapproved of his daughters marriage was because she married her brother.
strangely enough this theme features in most of VC Andrews books and flowers in  the attic was suppose to based on a true story

a question we have to ask though in the days of sperm and egg donation is this going to happen more and more? will it eventually become an accepted part of society?
