Thoughts about world evil

last week adrian and i watched these documentaries on Hitler and Auschwitz-Birkenau. these docos always interest me, i have a strange fascination with them, ill watch them and be totally disgusted and horrified every-time i watch them, the whole Holocaust and all the atrocities committed during world war 2 is the worst thing that ever happened in the history of the human race, and the people responsible one of true evils on earth.
whilst i was watching i also went on wikipedia and did some further reading. its just amazing that it just ever happened, amazing that people let it happen. so i was moved to search a poem that haunts me when i read it.
so i thought ill post it here.

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."
Pastor Martin Niemöller

there is actually many verations of the poem so i posted one and for the others click here

this whole fascination and i use the word for a lack of a better one i cant find right now i guess started when i read a little book for english when i was 13-14 in year 8 (1995) it broke my heart! and certainly changed by perceptions on evil
it was called Friedrich by Hans Peter Richter (1968)
